Selecting my pictures

i have only selected three pictures for my magazine as i feel i can do alot with them to make my magazine fun, intresting and really reflect my them.

I selected this picture that i took of emily as i thought it was a very fun image, it also shows sly rebelion and edge as she is wearing quite a provocative outfit. I feel like the picture leaves the audience wondering weather its going to be a magazine about girls being wild, partying etc, or they might be thinking it looks like a high fashion shot of a girl who looks very confidant and independant. She looks very comfortable with herself and her body and i like the way he hands are on her head so its still posey. As my magazine is a music and fashion magazine, reflecting pop and indie, i feel this image is very strong and powerful and also shows contrasts. It is a very inviteing photo and people would want to know more about the magazine.

I decided that i was going to use this image for my contents page. I think its a really edgy image and the flash of the camera really made her features stand out. On the camera itself i edited the brightness and contrast slightley making her look really pale and the background really dark. The cigeret at the bottem makes her seem very edgy and the pink lips and bright colours show a very rebelious side to her. i like the way she is looking directly at the camera as this will make the audience feel as though they are on the same level and can achieve the same things as she can. I really like the suttlety of her face, it shows me she doesn't care what anyone thinks and that she can do things on her own. i feel it reflects the Indie Pop theme as she looks girlie with a soft rock edge. i achieved this look by back combing one side of her hair and putting her outside in the darkness.

I choose this picture as to me it has alot of deeper meaning, for my double page spead i want it to be about determination and moving forward. i feel that this picture having a suitcase is showing that shes not staying here and she is going somewhere else. I like the way she looks very high fashion in this picture and that the colours are all matching. On the camera i edited the brightness and contrast so that her skin was really pale, making the colours stand out more. also i made her outfit look darker by editing the contrast therefore it shows contrast to the other colours.

I feel my pictures definatly reflect the edge and fashion side of the magazine. As i have decided my magazine is going to be very stylised, and glossy, i also want all of the coulours to match up as each different issue of my magazine would have a different theme. for this magazine i have decided the colours i want to focus on are Pink, Black and white, therefore i am going to have to edit these pictures to make them fit that theme.

I am still on the basis that less is more therefore for my magazine i dont want to over power it with images and writeing, i want it to just be a strong yet suttle magazine and i feel these images are each very strong, and with a bit of editing could become very powerful and really suit my magazine and make it what i want it to be.
