GOING PLACES...
“I’m completely outrageous and I’ll do anything for attention!”
No, not the words of Paris Hilton, but the claim of Samantha Payne.
Indie Pop singer Samantha Payne, may seem like a rebellious wild child, but in fact she’s had to come a long way on her own. Payne’s path to fame was far bumpier than her glamtastic image lets on. It took eight years of false starts and dead-ends before she scored the million-selling album loathing. Payne dropped out of high school when she was 16 and got a university degree in fashion design, which her family of lawyers found very difficult to accept. Payne then moved to L.A where with a lot of struggle, she landed a record deal with Capital Records and of course, her album was a hit. As well as being a successful singer, Payne doesn’t want her degree to go to waste. With the singing under wraps she decides that she wants to create a fashion line, based on the singers unique, sexy and spontaneous style, no doubt the line will be as fabulous as her.
“It’s been an ambition for some time and things are starting to shape up for me right now. It would take two years to do it right. I don’t want to do something sloppy.”
With the fashion line ago, Paynes independence makes her an inspiration to all woman, her sense of style and big voice makes her someone to look up to, but with all that, Mischeif wonder weather Payne has any time for a private life at all?
“I understand diva-ness, but I cultivate an image as the pop star next door. You need to have some mystery and some privacy, and there are parts of me that I hold back.”
Samantha payne represents woman and is a very down to earth lady. She keeps her private life to her self and makes her open life both personal and inspiration. With a fashion life ahead of her and a booming singing career, Payne is really going places and it will be very interesting for Mischeif to keep track of this extraordinary star.
Why did I think this article was effective and what was the message I was trying to say?
I wanted to make my article motivational, I also wanted to makesure i kept the demographic target in mind the whole time. I wanted to show that you can achieve things and not all stars are born into the fame (like Paris). I feel by making this article, i appealed to an even wider demographic than before. I started my magazine with a front cover that mostly would apeal to pleasure seekers, creative's and experimentalists. However when you turn to my contents page I appeal to the anti authority rebels also. This is good because it broadens my target even further. When making my article I wanted it to speak to my audience and actually have a message, rather than just another self absorbed celebrity. I feel i have done this and by doing so I have broadened my demographic to Achievers. The article was short and sweet and a very easy read, it shows my singer in a very positive light and makes you believe that through working you can get far. I also wanted to connote how important independents is, by moving to L.A Samantha had to work on her own to make her dreams come true. I feel this would attract my Indie/Pop genre as Indie artists like to do things their way, and however long it takes they want to make sure they can get the correct messages across, Also, it shows how down to earth and witty she is, she can keep herself to herself and this is a really nice thing to have.
