To help me with my images and making sure i take powerful photos that get a good message across to my audience. I have decided to look at different type of ways to take photos.
Camera Angles-
the relationship between the camera and the model being photographed (camera angle) gives an emotional message to the audience, and guides there judgement on the model in the shot. The more extreme the angle, the more powerful the shot.
there are many types of camera angle but for a magazine i can rule out angles like the birds eye shot.
HIGH ANGLE
this shot is above the subject but not as high as the birds eye shot, this makes the subject seem less significant or scary.
EYE LEVEL
the camera is placed as though its the same height as the model looking directly at the model. this makes you feel you are on the same level as the subject.
LOW ANGLE
The camera is looking up to the subject so that the model seems more powerful and gives a sense of insecurity and fear into the subject.
CANTED ANGLE
the camera is placed at an angle to show imbalance.
As well as thinking about the camera angle, you also need to figure out which type of shot you wish to take.
personally for a magazine cover i would either use
MEDIUM SHOT
this shows your model from the head to waist. i normally has a very minimal background and most detail is with the figure it self.
CLOSE UP
this concentrates on just the face and normally blurs the background, this shot allows us to really feel the emotion of the model.
now that i know more about the camera angles and shots that i could use for my magazine i can start taking pictures on the indie theme and make sure i use this knowledge to make sure my pictures are strong and powerful.
