What does my final magazine represent and how did I make it represent This using my knowledge, research, and the codes and conventions?

My magazine belongs the the Indie/Pop genre. The  codes and conventions which suggest this would be the colour scheme of Pink, Black and white. The style of the magazine which is quite simple yet has a strong message, The images Of A girl, happy in a sexy type outfit, a girl smoking but looks comfortable and strong and a girl sitting in the street with a suitcase who looks like she is waiting to go somewhere.  The font is mostly in upper case letters, they are also quite messy looking reflecting the idea of going against authority.  Also the size of the font is quite large, signifying shouting and freedom of speech that Indie and Pop music had/have way back from the 1960's till now. Also the language used Is simple, Its easy reading and very positive, it promotes working hard and not letting fame get to your head, also it shows believing in what you can do. The colours of the pages are particularly associated with woman however the use of black and white, and skulls in my double page spread, makes the audience always relate back to the genre i'm representing.

On my font cover the girl is placed in the middle of the magazine. She fills up allot of the place suggesting she is important to my magazine. however, the graffiti writing is in front of her body, showing that the messages we have in the magazine are in fact as important of more important than the artists. This could also show the reader that the cover girl is not famous, she is just a girl representing my theme of Indie/Pop. She definitely appeals to the demographic of pleasure seekers, creatives and experimentalists, this is because she has a clear smile on her face, she is wearing very provocative clothes however she looks confidant and comfortable with her body. I feel she is represented really well and definitely would attract my target audience. She is a White girl aged 18. I think a female would react more to this cover than a male as I have edited the cover to make her wear pink which is a colour represented for woman and pop music being very happy and glamorous.

On my contents page, you can see a girl with a cigarette outside, She is close up and taking up allot of the page. she looks particularly important and you can see that she is in front of the White line, showing she must be important to the magazine. She is in fact Samantha Payne a famous singer and the audience would either know this or see the same girl on the double page spread. By reading my article I mention how successful she is therefore I didn't feel I needed to label her on my contents. She is taking up as much space as the list of pages therefore showing her importance.  The girl is a white female and the page itself would attract females over males. The lifestyle being promoted would be that she is strong, she is fighting against authority and doing what makes her happy. the cigarette isn't big and is very low down, this makes it clear that we are not promoting smoking and that we are simple promoting this attitude and opening our demographic up even further.

On my Double page spread, Samantha Payne is covering a whole page, this shows how important she is. She is taking in a large portion of the page and is closer to the camera than everything around her. She is well dressed and looks incredibly classy in contrast to her surroundings and the houses in the background are not upper-class houses. She is sitting on the suitcase showing that she is waiting to go somewhere. The fact that she is leaving shows that she doesn't want to stay put where she is. This motivates leaving the life you have if you are not happy and persueing your dreams. The girl is also white therefore targeting a white female audience. I think a female would defiantly respond to the magazine better than a male. The name Paris Hilton is mentioned, this is too show that she has worked for her fame, rather than Paris who was born with it. She also mentions that she has been to university promoting that getting an education is a good thing. also she speaks about moving to L.A again showing that you should peruse your dreams. I did this to bring in an even wider demographic target such as achievers, I felt that this was good as this means even though My target is mainly females, It ranges through allot of demographics and will attract more.

My magazine does not use jargon but in fact the language used is more general day to day language for people's everyday lives. I tried to create a shared camaraderie between Me (the magazine producers, and my audience. i did not introduce my article as if talking to friends, I showed Samantha in a positive way and i only used a few quotes that i felt had power behind them.  My magazine is clearly targeting the age range of 16+, the bold, easy to read fonts and language suggest this as well as the girls look young, the language is inspirational. Also the graffiti on the front Attracts a younger, wilder audience. The language prossumes that the reader would be a working class, daily mail reader  that likes to get to the point.
